WHY WE NEED NEURODIVERGENT PRIDE

Neurodivergent Pride is about telling society that we are not broken, we are not wrong and we do not need to be fixed.

Neurodivergent Pride is a reminder to challenge the shame we feel because
of a society that pathologises us. -
Neurodivergent Pride is about saying screw you to neuronormativity and dominant societal expectations, norms and standards.

Neurodivergent Pride Day is a day for neurodivergent people to celebrate their neurodivergent identity, culture and community.

June the 12th is the day that Kassiane Asasumasu corrected the internet with the Tumblr post that we all love and share so it felt only appropriate that Neurodivergent Pride Day was on this date to honour Kassaine's work and term.

Neurodivergent Pride Day is a day for all neurodivergent individuals; Autistic, ADHD, Bipolar, Dyslexia, Schizophrenia, Hearing Voices, Plurals and Systems, Cluster Bs and anyone/everyone who identifies as neurodivergent.
You can be self-diagnosed.
You can also not identify with any psychiatry/medical labels at all. -
This isn’t a day for neurotypical people or allies. It isn’t an awareness day or acceptance day where workplaces throw a well-meaning brunch.
It is a day for neurodivergent people. -
Neurodivergent Pride Day is about neurodivergent individuals celebrating themselves and their neurodivergent identity, culture and community on their own terms.
This means there are multiple ways to participate and how you participate is entirely up to you.
